Abstract: This green paper details the Reference Architecture of the EU FCT Trusted Research Data Ecosystem (RDE) developed by the LAGO project. It explains the architecture's key components, including participant onboarding procedures, metadata cataloguing, data request and sharing mechanisms, and the sandbox environment for research models. The paper emphasises the architecture's design principles (e.g., decentralisation, data sovereignty, security, and trust) and its aim to facilitate secure, ethical, and interoperable data exchange within the FCT research domain.
