Fouling fan worms (Annelida, Sabellidae) from northern and central Mexican Pacific marinas and ports
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Seven species of fouling sabellid worms are here reported attached to artificial submerged structures (fixed and floating docks, ropes, buoys, rafts, pilings, pneumatic tires and hull of vessels) from 68 localities in marinas and ports from Baja California, Baja California Sur, Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit and Sinaloa (western Mexico). Acromegalomma coloratum (Chamberlin, 1919), Notaulax californica (Treadwell, 1906), Parasabella pallida Moore, 1923, and Pseudobranchiomma schizogenica Tovar-Hernández & Dean, 2014 are reported for many new localities. Parasabella rugosa (Moore, 1904), described from San Diego, constitutes a new record for Mexico. Paradialychone ecaudata (Moore, 1923) is first recorded as biofouler, and Pseudopotamilla sp. is probably a new species.
