Abstract: The article covers modern approaches to rubric design to assess sociocultural competence in primary school language learners. These rubrics use new teaching trends to provide a systemic way to measure accent as well as cultural awareness at the same time. The use of rubrics provides practical information the authors argue serves as early strategic support for sociocultural awareness.
