Perovskite Photodetector for High Speed and Secure Li-Fi Wireless Data Transmission

Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Traditional radio-frequency wireless communication's bandwidth congestion, energy inefficiency, and security vulnerabilities are becoming more apparent in the digital age. Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) uses visible light to transmit data at high speeds while overcoming many urgent issues. A perovskite-based photodetector is used to improve performance in this research on a high-speed, secure Li-Fi system. Optoelectronic properties like high absorption coefficients, adjustable bandgaps, and fast photoresponse times have made perovskite materials popular. These qualities make them ideal optical communication system photodetectors. This study fabricates a perovskite photodetector for a prototype Li-Fi system that transmits data in real time using visible light sources like LEDs or laser diodes. The underutilized visible light spectrum, 10,000 times wider than the radio spectrum, allows ultra-fast data transfer rates and reduces spectrum congestion in the proposed Li-Fi system. Perovskite photodetectors improve responsiveness and energy efficiency, making the system suitable for smart city infrastructure and advanced education. Li-Fi also improves data security because light cannot pass through opaque materials like walls, limiting signal access to certain areas. This makes it ideal for secure hospitals, schools, and government buildings. The system also resists electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it suitable for aircraft cabins and medical devices. This study shows a small-scale perovskite-integrated Li-Fi communication system that could improve wireless data transmission speed, security, and sustainability. As Li-Fi technology advances and uses photodetector materials like perovskites, high-performance, environmentally friendly wireless communication networks begin.
