Smart Locking System using Fingerprint Scanner

Abstract: This research paper presents the design and development of a Smart Locking System using a fingerprint scanner and Arduino Uno microcontroller. The project aims to provide a secure and reliable biometric-based access control solution, eliminating the vulnerabilities of traditional locking mechanisms. The system integrates a fingerprint module, IRFZ44N MOSFET, and a solenoid lock, offering fast, accurate authentication and low-cost implementation. This work was carried out as part of a final-year capstone project under the Computer Engineering Department at K.E. Society’s Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (Polytechnic), Pune. The paper includes detailed analysis, circuit design, working methodology, results, and future enhancement opportunities.
