Abstract: The Sangam literature shows that women were held in high esteem during the Sangam period. The references in the Sangam hymns also provide insight into the status of women. The literature shows that women were held in a respectable position in both external and internal life. The purpose of this research article is to explain the occupations performed by women during the Sangam period.
