Abstract: The issue contains papers given on the occasion of a conference organized, with the financial support of the Department of Political Science of the University of Trieste, in October 2023 in Trieste, in the historic headquarters of the Narodni Dom, the ancient Slovenian people‘s house, set on fire by the fascists on July 13, 1920, and where currently the Department of Legal and Language Sciences is hosted. The place of the event, linked to the violent explosion of nationalism and fanaticism, is particularly suitable for hosting a conference on political theology, at a time when a war, that broke out as early as February 2022 following the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, is still ongoing. The subject of the conference is born as a result of this event and deals with a theme on which various historical, political, philosophical and religious reflections converge: Russian political theology of the twenty-first century. In addition to the articles in our special section, this issue includes a number of articles which address, in widely different ways, the relationship between the distinct but interconnected domains of the ethical and the political.
