JWST Infrared Spectroscopy of White Dwarf Supernovae
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Understanding the astrophysics of white dwarf supernovae -- their progenitor systems and explosion mechanisms -- remains a key research goal, particularly given the importance of type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) as cosmological distance indicators. I will present advances in our knowledge of white dwarf supernovae through new observations from JWST, revealing both surprising homogeneity and diversity.
