Indian Education in the 21st Century: Issues, Trends, and Prospects
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: : The Indian education system has undergone significant transformations in the 21st century, driven by economic, social, and technological advancements. This study aims to analyze these changes, with a specific focus on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its implications for inclusivity, quality, and employability in education. The study adopts a qualitative literature review methodology, drawing from scholarly articles, government reports, and educational resources. The findings reveal that while NEP 2020 has the potential to revolutionize Indian education by integrating technology, enhancing teacher training, and fostering skill development, significant challenges remain in areas such as digital access, particularly in rural regions. The policy’s emphasis on flexible learning, multidisciplinary approaches, and vocational education holds promise for bridging the gap between academic training and employability. However, successful implementation of these reforms will require continuous investment in infrastructure and teacher development. In conclusion, NEP 2020 offers a roadmap for transforming India’s education system, but its success will depend on effective execution at both state and national levels.
