Ξ-Field Precursors and GW231123: A Chronology-Constrained GCFT Hypothesis and Falsifiable Pre-Merger Test

Type: article
Abstract: GCFT-0683, Version 3.1 / Release — provenance-controlled revision. This work examines a proposed pre-merger transient component within General Coherence Field Theory (GCFT), referred to as the Ξ-chirp or CHIDORI, using the exceptionally massive binary-black-hole event GW231123 as a retrospective test case. The manuscript deliberately separates provenance from observational evidence. Archived development records contain an explicit user-authored precursor/prewave hypothesis before the later recorded GW231123-specific investigation. This establishes chronological precedence within the retained archive, but does not establish public priority, exclude unrecorded external exposure, or demonstrate physical validity. GW231123 is analyzed using released LIGO–Virgo–KAGRA detector-domain and waveform products. The study introduces a joint time–frequency representation of H1 and L1 data, detector timing alignment derived from the released Bilby waveform projection, comparison with Bilby, BayesWave and cWB reconstructions, and a Bilby-subtracted residual morphology diagnostic. The historical candidate region at approximately −35 to −15 ms and 100–160 Hz is retained explicitly as a retrospectively selected interval. Changes of representation do not modify the underlying detector measurements, and visible time–frequency morphology is not treated as evidence by itself for a new physical component. GCFT-0683 therefore reformulates the precursor proposal as a falsifiable detector-level hypothesis. A physical Ξ-chirp would require statistically unusual, cross-detector coherent structure that cannot be adequately explained by the binary-black-hole waveform, detector noise, data conditioning, detector response, or known instrumental contamination. Existing LVK waveform-consistency and residual analyses are acknowledged, including the absence of a statistically significant coherent residual in the published analysis. No detection of a Ξ-field precursor is claimed in this release. The work instead establishes a provenance-controlled hypothesis, a reproducible visualization and residual-analysis framework, and explicit conditions under which GW231123 or future independent gravitational-wave events could support or constrain the proposed GCFT precursor interpretation.
