DHEA: The Hormone of Restored Balance in the Midlife Body
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As individuals enter midlife typically after the age of 30 to 40 the human body undergoes systemic changes, including shifts in energy levels, physical performance, emotional regulation, and metabolism. A key factor driving these changes is the gradual decline in DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), a natural hormone produced by the adrenal glands. DHEA functions as a precursor to both male and female sex hormones and plays a crucial role in maintaining vitality, cognitive resilience, and hormonal balance. This article explores the physiological role of DHEA, its implications for midlife health, and how its regulation may support longevity and quality of life.
