Papilio (Achillides) bianor subsp. thrasymedes Fruhstorfer 1909
Year: 2025
Type: other
Abstract: Papilio (Achillides) bianor thrasymedes Fruhstorfer, 1909 Specimen data: One female (Figs 1–2), 31. viii. 2016 (8:29 am), Ishika [Sesoko Island], Motobu-cho, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, Satoshi Arata leg. (S. Arata’s private collection), forewing length 66 mm. Notes: This individual was collected while sucking the nectar of Hibiscus rosa in the garden of a house along the farm road on the south coast of Sesoko Island. As the butterfly was female, the second author attempted to extract eggs from its abdomen but did not obtain any. Therefore, it is possible that it laid eggs around Sesoko Island. However, it should also be noted that, instead of eggs, a larger amount of body fat was stored.
