An Overview of Studies Onsingle-mode Fiber in Lan Environment for Data Transmission and Communication Systems
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Information is sent and received across vast distances via a fiber optic communication system. Thesesystems consist of thin glass or plastic strands that are intended to direct light along their length in orderto transmit data effectively, reliably, and with the least amount of loss possible (1-3). Minimal weight, broad bandwidth, non-conductive, resilience to electromagnetic interference, and minimal transmissionloss are some of its outstanding features. Optical fiber technology has developed into a fairly affordableoption for new telecom installations. Local area network (LAN) connections between computersystems and intelligent building wiring are two common uses for optical fiber systems. Single-modefiber (SMF) is a long-distance optical fiber type that permits only one mode of light to go through itscore.Single-mode optical fibers have a cladding diameter of 125 μm and a core diameter of 8–10.5 μm.It is extensively utilized in local area network (LAN) settings for communication and high-speed datatransfer. The need for high-speed data transport has grown significantly in recent years, particularly inLAN settings. As a result, there is now more interest in researching and using SMF in communicationsystems.
