Biochemistry of Belief: Towards a Pharmacology of Perception

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper introduces the concept of a ‘pharmacology of perception’—a framework in which beliefs, expectations, and subjective experiences are understood as active biochemical agents capable of modulating physiological states. Drawing upon neurochemistry, psychoneuroimmunology, and recent advances in self-programming technologies, the paper outlines how cognitive states can initiate hormonal, immunological, and regenerative responses. We explore how belief operates not as a passive psychological variable, but as a measurable biological signal that can aid or hinder healing. This interdisciplinary approach reframes perception as an internally administered therapeutic agent, opening new possibilities for personalized medicine, neurotherapy, and biohacking.
