A Comparative Performance Analysis of the Happy HeartCare App for Cardiac Patients on Android and iOS Platforms

Year: 2025
Type: dissertation
Abstract: This study presents a comparative analysis of performance optimization strategies applied to Happy HeartCare, a cross-platform mobile application designed to assist cardiac patients through real-time health monitoring and support. The research evaluates and contrasts performance metrics—including response time, CPU usage, app launch time, and battery consumption—across Android and iOS versions of the application. Developed using Flutter for the frontend and PHP with MySQL for the backend, the app integrates features such as symptom tracking, medication reminders, and patient-provider communication. Performance data was collected from 20 participants and analyzed using IBM SPSS software to measure the impact of platform-specific optimization techniques. Results show that while iOS benefits from integrated system-level optimizations, Android demonstrates greater improvements when explicit optimization techniques are applied. The findings highlight the necessity of tailored optimization approaches for each platform to ensure consistent and efficient user experiences in mobile healthcare applications. This study contributes to the advancement of mobile health technology by recommending cross-platform optimization strategies and emphasizing the importance of performance tuning in patient-centric applications.
