Brick Waste as Concrete Filler
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As a result of the research, it was determined that as the amount of coarse aggregates from brick waste increases, an increase in the water-cement ratio is observed in concrete samples. The mobility of concrete corresponds to class P1 with the amount of fillers obtained from brick chips being 60%, at 40% - P2, at 20% - class P3. An increase in water consumption is necessary to compensate for the effect of water absorption of porous aggregates from brick chips, and to maintain the mobility of the concrete mixture. The mobility of a concrete mixture obtained from brick chips changes significantly and rapidly over time. When preparing a concrete mixture, the cone slump is 13-14 cm, after 50 minutes it decreases to 3-5 cm, and after 60 minutes the mixture hardens completely. It has been determined that with an increase in the percentage of coarse aggregates, the compressive strength decreases. Thus, concrete samples with a percentage of aggregates of 20% can be classified as class B27.5, samples with 40% - to B25, and samples with 60% - to class B22.5.
