There Is No Glucose-Excreting Cell: A Structural and Biochemical Rebuttal

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This paper challenges the common claim that intestinal epithelial cells absorb glucose via SGLT1 and then excrete it into the bloodstream through GLUT proteins. We argue that once glucose enters a cell, it is rapidly phosphorylated and metabolized, making its excretion both physiologically and biochemically implausible. This principle holds across all cell types, including glial cells. We propose a structural reinterpretation of glucose flow through intercellular spaces instead of cytoplasmic routes. The prevailing textbook model must be reconsidered in light of universal biochemical laws.
