Management of Jaundice Using Unani Formulations: A Case Series Approach
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This case series explores the use of Unani medicine in managing jaundice with hepatobiliary involvement in three patients attending the Jarahiyat (Surgery) OPD. Symptoms included yellow eyes, dark urine, reduced appetite, fatigue, and episodic nausea. Investigations revealed hepatomegaly, gallbladder wall edema, and raised liver enzymes, though viral markers were negative. Unani formulations were administered based on their hepatoprotective properties, leading to significant clinical and biochemical improvement. This study demonstrates the potential efficacy of Unani formulations in addressing jaundice and hepatobiliary tract derangements safely and effectively.
