Abstract: Xylocopa (Notoxylocopa) tabaniformis orpifex Smith, 1854 [Syntype: NHMUK; ♂ California, USA] The populations of this species from the BCP belong to the subspecies currently known as Xylocopa tabaniformis orpifex. However, it is possible that this subspecies should be considered as a separate species. The BBPT collected this species in the Coastal Sage Matorral, Chaparral, Baja California Mountains and Gulf Coast (12 ♂, 3 ♀). This species is present throughout the BCP, except in the Succulent Coastal Matorral (Supplementary material 1), which may be an artifact of limited sampling effort.
