Spiritual Heritage: The Poetry of Swami Vivekananda
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Vivekananda is a saint poet who has maintained balance and discipline while composing poems which encompass the varied experiences—devotional, philosophical and social—in life. He articulates religious and mystical touches concerning the goddess Kali, Lord Shiva, renunciation, transcendence, creation and its mystery, Brahman, deep meditation, search for God, pantheism, the practical Vedanta etc., which give a rainbow to his verse that makes the reader feel joy and wonder. His poetry conveys the message of oneness and unity condemning fanaticism and bigotry and favouring the fusion of the East and the West through the harmony of all religions that will lead to the path of cosmopolitanism—vasudhevkutumbukum—the spirit of Indian culture.
