Indigenous Economic Practices: A Way to Rural Development of India

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This research paper studies the importance of indigenous economic practices in the rural development of India. For many years, people in villages have used their own ways to earn a living. These include traditional farming, making hand-made products, exchanging goods without money, and managing water together as a community. These methods are low-cost, eco-friendly, and help people work together. In recent times, modern technology and outside markets have pushed these traditional methods aside. But many villages still face problems like poverty, joblessness, and damage to the environment. Indigenous practices can help solve these problems. They can create jobs, protect nature, and support local economies. This paper explains how these traditional systems work and why they are still useful. It also talks about the problems these practices face and how we can protect and promote them. Bringing back these traditional methods can help build strong, self-reliant, and sustainable villages in India.
