Abstract: Since counting trichomes manually or using automated software is a complex and time-consuming process, it is important to develop a new method. Moreover, trichomes on cotton leaves and other organs (even within a single organ) may be distributed unevenly. This further complicates their identification. In this study, a comparative assessment of stem and leaf trichomes was carried out using the Bourland rating scales [1]. Such an approach helped overcome the difficulties caused by the uneven distribution of trichomes when they do not exhibit a pilose character.
