Abstract: I. Executive Summary: The Strategic Imperative for a Sentient Enterprise The contemporary industrial landscape is defined by escalating complexity, volatility, and competitive pressure. In this environment, incremental improvements are no longer sufficient to guarantee market leadership. The next frontier of competitive advantage lies in a fundamental transformation of organizational intelligence—evolving from a reactive, siloed enterprise into a proactive, holistic, and self-aware "Sentient Enterprise." This research plan outlines a multi-year, post-doctoral program to develop the core enabling technology for this transformation at Borel Sigma: the Enterprise Digital Twin (EDT). The EDT envisioned here transcends conventional digital twin concepts. It is not merely a collection of isolated asset models but a unified, dynamic, and synchronized digital representation of the entire enterprise fabric. This includes its critical physical assets, its intricate operational processes and supply chains, and its dynamic strategic landscape. The EDT will function as the central nervous system of Borel Sigma, providing a real-time, predictive, and comprehensive understanding of its own state, enabling a paradigm shift in decision-making at every level of the organization.
