Semantic Parallelism and the Issue of Conceptual Equivalence
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This article analyzes the significance of semantic parallelism and conceptual equivalence in linguistics. These two concepts help identify the interrelation and differences between the semantic systems of various languages. Semantic parallelism is primarily observed in speech expression, literature, and poetry, relying on the repetition of structurally similar or contrasting elements. Conceptual equivalence, on the other hand, examines how identical or similar ideas and concepts are expressed in different languages. This study explores the manifestation of semantic parallelism and conceptual equivalence in Turkic and European languages and their connection to cultural and historical factors.
