Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article addresses political Internet memes that reflect the geopolitical relationship between Russia and the West through the prism of individual perception of users of social networks in the Russian segment of the Internet. In the context of conflicts and ideological confrontations, Internet memes do not only render humour or satire, but also express cultural codes, historical memory, and national myths. Such memes become an instrument of soft power in information wars. As a result of the analysis, the distinctive features characteristic of political memes associated with the geopolitical relations between Russia, America and Europe have been singled out. In the scientific literature, the analysis of political memes is insufficiently presented, which emphasizes the innovative nature of this study. In the future, the study of political Internet memes contributes to the extension of knowledge about the influence of the digital environment on geopolitical culture and society. The data obtained can be used to develop communication strategies in the political Internet environment, as well as to form a positive image of the head of a state.
