Abstract: Capitalism has found a way to perpetuate itself for so long that we have forgotten what the world could be like without it. It is as if the capitalist system encompassed modernity and even all history, becoming the only logical space for historical events such as revolutions. It is as if no revolutionary movements could exist outside capitalism or could remove us from it. Of course, we know this is untrue. The capitalist system has been nothing more than one socio-economic system among others in history. It does not even encompass modernity, and there have been revolutions before and outside of it. However, what we know is insufficient to dispel the feeling that we are trapped in the capitalist system. Indeed, capitalism feels similar to an eternal universe: an inside without an outside, a present without a future that could be different. We feel the only revolutions with any real chance of success are capitalist or within the system, that is the system’s readjustments or disturbances, be they personal, cultural, social, political, artistic, scientific or technological.
