Changes of the seasonal prediction skill of SST anomalies in the Atlantic main development region
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This directory contains the predicted summer mean (ASO, i.e., August, September and October) SSTA indices related to the Atlantic Hurricanes from CESM ensemble hindcasts during period 1900-2017 that are used for a manuscript ("Changes of the seasonal prediction skill of SST anomalies in the Atlantic main development region"). Description: The predicted index of summer mean SSTA in the MDR is calculated as the area-averaged SSTA in the MDR region (80°W-20°W, 10°N-25°N). The predicted index of summer mean SSTA in the tropical belt is calculated as the area-averaged SSTA in the tropical belt (180°E-180°W, 30°S-30°N). The predicted index of winter mean Nino3.4 index is calculated as the area-averaged SSTA in domain of 170°W-120°W, 5°S-5°N. All indices are derived from the CESM ensemble hindcasts that are initialized from the 1st of July during each year spanning from 1900 to 2017. All indices are anomalies relative to the climatology during period 1900-2017.
