Designing the basic science ontology and its concept-based databank

Year: 2024
Type: book
Abstract: The interaction between ontology and natural languages is a prerequisite for the process of natural language processing and knowledge engineering. Ontologies, which primarily draw from semantic models, share common features with vocabulary. They organize a set of terminologies based on related concepts, while ontologies conceptualize and define the relationships between concepts. A shared vocabulary serves as a foundation and a tool for knowledge sharing, and a common ontology also acts as a means for knowledge sharing through information technology. In the construction of conceptual models and linguistic structures, this field of computational linguistics plays a role in mapping the relationships between concepts and terms for application in knowledge engineering and information organization. To shape a common ontology, it is necessary to synthesize and harmonize existing terminologies in the research centers of information science and technology, addressing the discrepancies and overlaps in the vocabulary of basic sciences. This will create a network of concepts related to this trend, designed as an ontology of basic science vocabulary. After transforming terminological relationships into a concept-based language using OWL2 and based on standard 25964 in the concept-based information database, it can serve as a robust tool for storing and retrieving information.
