Cultural Roots of Communication in Iran
Year: 2024
Type: book
Abstract: Today, the presence of institutionalized communication norms in Iran can be observed even in the use of modern non-media communication tools. In fact, although communication hardware is similar everywhere in the world, the way people interact with it differs. The reason for this can be found in the roots of each culture's communication practices. Studies conducted in the field of communication, despite their breadth and diversity—especially in the West, which is considered the origin of modern communication sciences—have paid less attention to the "pre-print era" and the "cultural roots" of communication derived from it. This book is an example that addresses this topic and is based on responses to the following two main questions: 1. What are the communication norms found in proverbs and eleven centuries of Persian poetry? 2. What significance do the collective descriptions of the state of communication throughout the history of Iran and its communication norms hold in the contemporary model of the "eight-dimensional Iranian communication"?
