Executive Compensation for Sustainability Accountability
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Executive remuneration is increasingly scrutinized as it often incentivizes short-term financial performance over long-term sustainability. While firms recognize their societal and environmental impact, executive pay structures do not always align with broader stakeholder interests. ESG-linked incentives are growing but remain controversial and inconsistently applied. Effective governance, accountability mechanisms, and institutional frameworks are needed to balance financial and sustainability goals while fostering responsible corporate behavior.
