Dispelling illusions of locality: Panpsychism, telepathy, precognition, and modern psychoanalysis
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The author uses his experiences from a single case to reconceptualize modern psychoanalysis within a model of what he describes as a "nonlocal mind." The author argues that the belief in the mind being the product of the brain and residing in the body is an illusion of consciousness. Instead, offering evidence that the unconscious mind is inherently nonlocal, he appropriates William James' panpsychist transmission theory which claims the mind is a property of nature preexisting our encounter with it. The author reconceptualizes modern psychoanalysis as a nonlocal telepathic process. In reviewing precognition, the author considers evidence from quantum physics and social psychology supporting retrocausation. Examining Huw Price's reconception of quantum entanglement as a retrocausal process, the author notes the similarity of Price's model to the psychoanalytic conception of regression in the service of the ego. Combining Aristotle's teleology with Christopher Bollas' notion of the "destiny drive," the author proposes we are each motivated by both our past and future.
