Existential Realism (PsyArXiv)
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: Existential Realism (ER) is a metaphysical framework focused on the ontology of time. It distinguishes between existence (what is present and empirically accessible) and reality (past and future entities that, while not presently existent, remain real through their structural, causal, and inferential roles). ER integrates insights from philosophy, physics, and cognitive science, addressing challenges in presentism and eternalism by offering a two-tier account of time that preserves both the primacy of the present and the enduring significance of the past and possible future.
