Revolutionizing Education: Developing and Assessing Cutting-edge Instructional Materials for Lamps Controlled in Varied Locations
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study aimed to develop and assess cutting-edge instructional materials for lamp control in varied locations, specifically designed for Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) students. The main focus was on creating materials that are functional, durable, high-quality, usable, and safe. Additionally, the study intended to determine the effectiveness of these instructional materials in enhancing student learning performance through measurable outcomes. The study developed cutting-edge instructional materials assessed and employed a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: the control group and the experimental group. The experimental group utilized the developed lighting trainer, while the control group continued with traditional teaching methods. Both groups, composed of Grade 10 and Grade 11 EIM students, were subjected to pretest and posttest evaluations. For data analysis, descriptive statistics (mean and grand mean scores) and inferential statistics (t-test and p-value computation) were used to assess both the acceptability of the instructional materials and the learning gains of the students. The instructional materials received an excellent acceptability rating, with a grand mean score of 4.84, indicating high functionality, durability, quality, usability, and safety. In terms of learning performance, the experimental group showed a significant improvement from a pretest mean of 25.80 to a posttest mean of 37.94, supported by a highly significant p-value (0.001). On the other hand, the control group displayed no significant difference between their pretest and posttest scores. These results strongly suggest that the use of the developed lighting trainer positively impacted student learning, making complex electrical concepts more understandable and practical skills more attainable. The study concludes that the developed instructional materials are highly suitable for technical-vocational education, particularly in Electrical Installation and Maintenance. They offer a safe, durable, and engaging platform for learning, significantly improving student understanding and practical competencies. It is recommended that the cutting-edge instructional materials (lighting trainer) be expanded to cover more technical competencies, enhance safety measures through low-voltage designs, and be integrated with other interactive teaching strategies. Finally, the study encourages further research in varied educational contexts to validate and extend the promising outcomes observed.
