AI decides on our health - How interactivity, freedom of action and a focus of decision-making influence the way we deal with artificial intelligence.
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: In this study we want to examine how lay people perceive and react to interactions with an AI-based system when seeking medical advice. Specifically, we investigate how trust, intent to use the system, perceived autonomy, psychological reactance, fairness and justice of such a system are influenced by (1) the focus of the AI's decision-making (individual vs. social), (2) the level of interactivity users experience (interaction vs. no interaction), and (3) the directive strength of the system’s output (recommendation vs. instruction).
