Electronic School Medication Administration Record (ESMAR) application development

Abstract: In school settings, the safe and accurate administration of prescription medications is a critical task increasingly challenged by resource limitations and manual processes. The Electronic School Medication Administration Record (ESMAR) system is a custom-built, HIPAA-compliant software solution designed to assist school nurses in reducing medication errors through workflow automation and biometric validation. ESMAR integrates features inspired by hospital-grade technologies—such as Electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR) and Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA)—into a novel platform adapted for the unique constraints of K–12 education environments.
