Effects of CBT on Planning Skills in Male Adolescents with ADHD:
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) impairs executive functions, especially planning skills, in adolescents. This study investigates the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on improving planning abilities in male adolescents with ADHD in Tehran, Iran. Over 12 weeks, participants underwent structured CBT sessions, with planning skills assessed at three points using the Tower of London Test and BRIEF measure. Results revealed significant improvements that persisted for three months after treatment, highlighting the long-term benefits of CBT. These findings suggest CBT enhances cognitive functions, which positively impacts academic performance and daily functioning. Due to its efficacy as a non-pharmacological approach, CBT should be included in clinical and educational interventions for ADHD. Future studies should assess its effectiveness in diverse groups and combined with other therapies to optimize outcomes.
