Research progress on tofacitinib in the treatment of chronic actinic dermatitis

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Chronic actinic dermatitis (CAD) is a group of immune-mediated diseases characterized by photosensitivity. Tofacitinib, a Janus kinase (JAK) 1/3 inhibitor, is currently the most extensively reported and widely used JAK inhibitor for the treatment of CAD. This article aims to briefly overview the background of CAD and tofacitinib, as well as to summarize the mechanisms of tofacitinib in the treatment of chronic actinic dermatitis, commonly used therapeutic dosages, specific efficacy, and adverse effects. Additionally, a brief comparison of tofacitinib with other JAK inhibitors is also included.
