Type: article
Abstract: The contribution deals with the ways of conveying the image of the Motherland in the song-poetic text when translated into English. Due to the development of information society, where musical art has become an important source of information about the country and its culture, a song text has become a powerful tool for expressing national and individual specificity. In order to achieve translation adequacy and to accurately convey the figurativeness, understanding the culture and peculiarities of the country plays an important role. The aim of this study is to identify strategies and methods of translating realias that convey the image of the Motherland in a song-poetic text of Vladimir Vysotsky’s poems and the works of contemporary rap artist Dmitry Kuznetsov. The image of the Motherland in a song and poetic text is largely formed through the use of realia, proper names, allusions and metaphors in the text, interpretation of which requires unique translation solutions precisely in connection with the specifics of the song text. Further research in this direction may contribute to finding optimal solutions for conveying the image of the Motherland when translating song-poetic and other types of texts.
