Comparative Analysis of Traditional and Modern Herbal Formulations
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Herbal medicine has been a cornerstone of healthcare practices across cultures for centuries, evolving from traditional preparations to modern pharmaceutical-grade formulations. This study presents a comparative analysis of traditional and modern herbal formulations, focusing on their composition, preparation methods, efficacy, safety profiles, and regulatory frameworks. Traditional herbal medicines are typically prepared using crude methods and rely heavily on empirical knowledge passed through generations. In contrast, modern herbal formulations are developed using advanced extraction techniques, standardization processes, and scientific validation to ensure consistency and efficacy. While traditional remedies offer cultural and historical value, modern formulations provide improved dosage precision, safety, and quality control. This analysis highlights the strengths and limitations of both approaches, emphasizing the need for integrative strategies that combine traditional wisdom with modern scientific advancements to enhance therapeutic outcomes and public health safety.
