Abstract: Summary. The present study is an endeavor determined not only by the difficulty but also bythe duality of interpreting the notion of social equity. On the other hand, one of the reasons for thescientific interest in social equity is that, during the last few years, several painful phenomena haveaccumulated in society, felt by broad strata of the population. In the context of a plethora of conceptsused to describe social equity, the science of constitutional law is obliged to sort out the legal categories used by the legislative authority. Genuine social equity can only be ensured in the conditionsof a genuine social state. The building of such a state requires the formation of a developed, sociallyoriented market economy; the strengthening of the rule of law; the creation of a civil society capableof defending the rights and freedoms of every individual. This requires enshrining the concept of thewelfare state in national legislation, developing, adopting and implementing a robust social policy, expanding social programs and encouraging charitable activities. This will enable the Republic ofMoldova to become a state of the majority and for the majority, guaranteeing and respecting the rights and freedoms of every individual.Key words: social equity, social justice, market economy, rule of law, social state.
