Innovative Broiler Farming: Leveraging Hydroponics for Optimal Poultry Growth
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: :Feed cost poses a greater challenge in broiler management asitaccounts for 70-80%.Exclusive reliance on traditional dietsand high cost formulated feedsalonemay hinder optimal broiler production. Therefore, exploring alternative feed sources is essential to address nutritional gaps in proteins, vitamins and minerals in poultry diets.Cereal fodder hydroponics is anovel cost-effective technique for growing plants, using water or nutrient-rich solution by regulating optimum temperature and humidity for the growth of sprouts andproduction of highly nutritious greenfodder for poultry andlivestock.Including both the seed and therootis highly consumable and contains a substantial protein content of 10-17%. It takes only 8 days to grow from seed tofodder. As an alternative feed source, hydroponic fodder can be integrated into broiler dietsowing to itssignificant benefits for broiler farmers by enhancing various aspects of poultry healthandproductionperformance.Further research studies are in the need of thehour for standardize this technologyand exploreits potential
