Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT Balochistan has been experiencing ‘radical’ politics since the 1960s. With the interview, it has been noted that ‘radical’ politics in Balochistan represents a legitimate struggle against decades of systemic oppression, exploitation, and cultural erasure by the Pakistani state in Balochistan. The Baloch nation have endured relentless marginalization, exploitation and occupation. They live in [a] stark situation. The state’s harsh policies and disregard for the Baloch nation–have fueled ‘radical’ political individuals and movements that demand justice, autonomy, and self-determination. For many Baloch, ‘radical’ politics is not just [a] choice but [a…] necessary response to reclaim their rightful place and control over their land, life, and dignity. The rise of radical politics in Balochistan is also a powerful statement against […] the persistent genocidal acts perpetrated by the state. The Baloch have faced severe military crackdowns: forced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and other forms of state-sponsored violence aimed at suppressing them and their resistance. In this context, radical politics is seen as an essential approach against colonial–domination and [a] fight for the survival of Baloch’s identity, culture, and history. They are resisting the genocide.
