La malacofaune de l'Igue du Gral
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The molluscs of the Igue du Gral.- Molluscs were extremely abundant in the top fill of the main chamber of the Igue du Gral natural trap. Two samples were taken from the remaining levels against the south wall for preliminary study. The maximum density of shells is just above assemblage 2 of deer and bison and probably date to the early Holocene. As expected, species preferring shaded, calcareous rocky environments, and adapted to drought, dominate. Generalist species also make up an important proportion of the samples. A limited but very dense corpus of shells is still preserved in the cavity, allowing for more detailed studies if they can be dated more precisely.
