Abstract: This milestone report outlines the OSTrails project's transition from analysis to the design and implementation phases. Through comprehensive evaluation and active stakeholder engagement, the report highlights key insights and establishes a roadmap for aligning the project’s design with previously defined objectives. Key accomplishments include a thorough analysis of the current project state against the OSTrails-IRA, engagement strategies for Horizon Europe Principal Investigators, and foundational criteria for the Compliance Assessment Toolkit and DMP Evaluation rubric. Inspired by the iterative Unified Process, our approach integrates best practices such as quality assurance and FAIR principles, ensuring a robust, responsive design. The report’s structured format guides the reader from state analysis to governance proposals, setting a clear path forward for project success.
