Vade-mecum Educational project
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The PITCHER project (Erasmus+ Programme, 2021-2024) designed and tested a set of Open Educational Resources focused on improving the capacity of teachers and educators in preparing new learning experiences to support the fight against archaeological looting and illicit trafficking of cultural goods. This educational resource is inspired by the French educational program “La classe, l’œuvre!”, which invites a class and a museum to collaboratively design an educational project. This program allows students to familiarize themselves with an artwork and then present it to the public during the European Night of Museums. It serves as a tutorial detailing the steps to carry out an educational activity on themes such as archaeological looting or the illicit trafficking of cultural property: finding a partner, selecting an artwork to address these topics, planning pedagogical sequences, and more. This resource is primarily aimed at European professionals working in schools and cultural institutions who are unfamiliar with this initiative. However, it is also intended for French teachers and cultural mediators. The French version includes suggestions for adapting Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC) to the themes of archaeological looting and illicit trafficking of cultural property, leveraging all its potential to strongly engage students with these critical issues.
