Rethinking Organ's classification:The Interstitium as a Proto-Organ

Abstract: We propose that the interstitium, traditionally viewed as connective space, should be reconsidered as a "proto-organ" a functionally unified structure that plays roles in immune signaling, cancer spread, and fluid dynamics. By classifying it this way, we open up space for new anatomical categories and future research.
