Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study investigated the credit card accessibility of employees in government academic institutions in Daet, Camarines Norte, aiming to provide a basis for intervention. Utilizing a descriptive and correlational research design with purposive sampling of 100 respondents from the Department of Education (70%) and Camarines Norte State College (30%), the study employed percentage frequency distribution, weighted mean, Somer’s Delta, and Contingency coefficient for data analysis. The findings revealed that most respondents were female, aged 31-40, married, with some master's units, earning below Php 30,000 monthly, permanently employed as teachers, using credit cards 1-3 times a month, and had been users for less than a year. Credit usage was rated highly accessible, while benefits/advantages and terms of credit were mostly accessible. Significant relationships were found between age and marital status with credit card accessibility levels. The primary problems identified were limited merchant options, susceptibility to fraud, and high interest rates. Based on these results, an intervention plan was proposed to enhance credit card accessibility and optimize its benefits for these employees.
