Impact of Technology on Music Education in Cycle 2: A study in Selected Metn Schools

Year: 2024
Type: dissertation
Abstract: The integration of technology and artificial intelligence into music education has become a transformative force in modern pedagogy. This thesis explores the impact of technology-integrated approaches on music education, focusing on some schools. Drawing on a comprehensive analysis of literature, empirical data, and an interview with a prominent music educator, this study investigates the challenges, opportunities, and implications of adopting technology-integrated music education in this specific context. The study found that technology has brought efficiency to music lessons, making the most of the limited class time. The empirical study, which includes filmed sessions in different schools, provides a comparison between technology-integrated and non-technology-integrated music classes. For example, it shows that technology-integrated classes feature more dynamic teaching methods and greater student engagement, leading to better learning outcomes. This research situates itself within broader discussions on technology in music education and offers practical recommendations for educators and policymakers. Technology and traditional approaches can coexist to create an inclusive, accessible, and engaging environment for students. The study encourages educators to adopt digital tools as a complement to hands-on instruction, showing that blended approaches can enhance musical skill, creativity, and appreciation. Other directions for future research could include developing concrete tools and platforms that allow teachers to design customizable technology-integrated lesson plans, examining the long-term effects of technology use on music proficiency, and identifying best practices for seamless technology integration within diverse educational contexts.
