Gravity as Lattice Elasticity: A DEAR Liquid-Crystal Conjecture and Its Relation to GR, QFT, String Theory & Gravity

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: We propose that what we perceive as gravity emerges from the elastic response of the DEAR Liquid-Crystal Lattice (LCL) to the regional crystallization induced by mass/energy. In this picture, mass depletes the local fluidity φ(r), creating strain gradients ∇φ that guide test-particle geodesics, reproducing General Relativity (GR) in the low-strain limit. Quantum fields arise as quasiparticle modes in the high-φ regime, matching Quantum Field Theory (QFT) predictions, while the LCL may admit a dual description akin to string-theoretic brane constructions. In addition, this also opens the possibility that Dark Matter itself may be explained in part as a Lattice Coherence Deficit. Lastly, we consider gravity's weakness as a indicator of it being residual elastic pull from strain in the highest-rigidity layers of the lattice. We detail the conjecture, derive the effective metric, and map connections to established frameworks.
