Abstract: Many of us have felt frustration, embarrassment, nervousness, and hesitation when studying a foreign language. Many researchers have also focused on these negative emotions. But what about the positive emotions like joy, pride, and satisfaction that language learners also feel? Richard J. Sampson shows how, in the process of learning a foreign language, researchers can interpret the emotions of learners in many different ways.
